The Ministry of Finance and the Public Service will host the second staging of their ‘At Your Service’ Expo, on October 9.

Following the successful showing last year, the Ministry is promising that this year will be even better.

Acting Director of the Corporate Communications and Public Relations Branch at the Ministry, Shakiel Rochester Shorter, told JIS News that the decision to host another expo is to show its customers that they are committed to customer service.

“The Ministry decided to stage another expo to show that we are driven by service excellence. We asked our customers to hold us accountable to set standards and we want to hear from them. Also, last year we received positive feedback from the event. We have testimonials of individuals hearing about the Expo, visiting various booths and were able to do business with the Government,” Mrs. Rochester Shorter said.

The event will be held at AC Hotels by Marriott in Kingston from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is free to the public.

Mrs. Rochester Shorter explained that the Expo ties in with the Government’s commitment to service excellence in the public sector.

“Service excellence for the Ministry means that we continue to go above and beyond our customers’ expectations. We have invested in technologies and programmes to ensure that we deliver the best efficient service to all who interact with the Ministry,” she said.

Booths will be set up by the various agencies of the Ministry, such as the Students’ Loan Bureau, Financial Investigations Division, Tax Administration Jamaica, Development Bank of Jamaica, and Jamaica Stock Exchange, to name a few.

Persons will be able to do business with these organisations on the spot, providing a unique experience for attendees.

“The Ministry wants individuals to understand the connection between its divisions, departments and agencies. People can expect lots of fun, excitement and surprises at this year’s staging of the Expo. We want you to come ready to do business with the Ministry, its Departments and Agencies,” Mrs. Rochester Shorter said.

“If you are eligible for the newly launched Reverse Income Tax Credit, you can come to the Expo and sign up or get more information about it. We will have various displays which you have to come and experience. We have two live outside broadcasts [Edge105 in the morning and RJR94fm in the afternoon] happening on the day, and most of all, this is free to the public. It really doesn’t get any better than this,” she said.
