The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) will soon be rolling out its new online platform – JCDC Award Force.
Director of Arts Development and Training, JCDC, Andrew Brodber, said this platform will facilitate registration of participants across all the Commission’s programmes.
“In securing every single individual by name, this enables us in better serving the community in generating critical information to assess, award and garner more support for the arts and our artists,” he disclosed.
Mr. Brodber made the announcement during the JCDC Marcus Garvey Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts 2024 ceremony, held on October 1 at the Little Theatre in Kingston.
This award is presented to the most outstanding school or group of the year that amasses the most points in the annual Festival of the Performing Arts.
Cash incentives are also offered to outstanding participants.
Mr. Brodber said the JCDC has already commenced promotion of the new cycle for the Festival of the Performing Arts competition and has opened entries across all areas of the arts.
“Get ready early. We close entries for the performing arts this year in December. All those who will be participating will have to be earlier than usual this time around,” he noted.
Parish auditions for the first round of the Festival of the Performing Arts Competition will begin in January 2025.
