The Full Story

The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) is poised to implement a new gaming management information system to elevate the level of services provided to its customers.

With this new system, persons will be able to access the Commission’s services remotely.

Director of Licensing and Registration at the BGLC, Vivian Nunes, says the platform will be initiated by the end of this calendar year, while underscoring its importance in improving the agency’s operations.

“This new system is expected to improve the efficiency of the processing of applications and remove our dependency on paper. It has the facilities for persons to submit and track applications online and receive licences online,” he outlined.

Additionally, the public will be able to validate BGLC licences and report illegal gaming activities through a user-friendly public portal.

Mr. Nunes said this feature is important, as the Commission remains committed to upholding the integrity of Jamaica’s gaming industry.

“It is in everybody’s best interest for compliance to be the order of the day. I want to encourage each and every person to try and remain on the right side of the law, rather than have us flex our enforcement muscles and have their assets seized and potentially not returned,” the Director emphasised.

Currently, reports of illegal activities can be made through several channels, including direct calls and in-person visits to the BGLC office, Crime Stop, or email.

Mr. Nunes pointed out, however, that the new gaming management information system will significantly improve this process.
