The Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) commences the observance of Journalism Week tomorrow with the staging of the annual Wray and Nephew-sponsored Veterans’ Luncheon. This year the association will honour media practitioners -Hartley Neita, Ken Chaplin and Ken Jones for long and faithful service in the field of journalism.
On Tuesday morning the PAJ holds its inaugural Media Prayer Breakfast, sponsored by Jamaica National, at the Knutsford Court Hotel in Kingston. Dr. Herbert Thompson, President of the Northern Caribbean University, a faith-based institution, will deliver the sermon.
The week’s activities climax on Friday evening with the staging of the Scotiabank-sponsored National Journalism Awards banquet at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, where the winners in a dozen categories of media practice, will be announced. Keynote speaker for this event is the Hon. Gordon “Butch” Stewart, publisher of the Jamaica Observer, and chairman of the Sandals hotel chain.
