About Jamaica’s Parishes, get the lay of the land
Ocho Rios – the Ocho Rios resort area is comprised of the parishes of St. Ann and St. Mary. Here you’ll find some of Jamaica’s most iconic attractions and beautiful gardens. You can also trace the roots of Agent 007 to the quiet town of Oracabessa in St. Mary, once a haven for Ian Fleming.
Port Antonio – the only resort area to be made up of only one parish, Port Antonio is known for its distinct natural beauty. Grand waterfalls, sheltered coves and winding rivers, all surrounded by lush dense flora, are just some of the area’s highlights. Port Antonio’s natural beauty can be attributed to the high levels of rainfall experienced in the parish, the highest in the entire island.
South Coast – the South Coast resort area is comprised of the parishes of St. Elizabeth, Manchester and Clarendon. The dark sandy beaches of the South Coast are not the only difference between the area and its northern equivalents. The South Coast is off the beaten path, a true escape into the Jamaican countryside, where time moves just a bit slower. Here you’ll find crocodiles, watermelons and seaside cottages, but perhaps not in that order.
