Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, has announced tighter curfew measures for the upcoming Heroes weekend.

Delivering a Statement in the House of Representatives on October 6 at the Jamaica Conference Centre, downtown Kingston, he said the Government has taken a decision to discourage parties and gatherings, which are normally held during the Heroes weekend.

“The curfew hours during the Heroes weekend will be from 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020, ending 8:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2020. The curfew will resume Monday, October 19, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. and will end at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2020,” Mr. Holness informed.

“Thereafter, as we have done before, the curfew will move to 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following day, each day, ending 5:00 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 2020,” he added.

Mr. Holness further informed that operators of public passenger vehicles will be allowed one hour before the start and one hour after the end of the curfew to move between their base and destination.

The existing islandwide curfew time will remain at 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. until October 18.
