The Jamaican economy is estimated to have expanded just shy of one percent for 2019, representing the seventh consecutive year of Gross Domestic Product, GDP growth for the country. PIOJ Director General Wayne Henry says one of the main contributors to growth for the 2019 calendar year was the 0.1 percent growth recorded for the October to December 2019 quarter. PIOJ Director General Wayne Henry says the main driver of this outturn for the quarter was the 1.5 percent growth estimated for the services industry, which outweighed a 3.8 percent contraction of the Goods producing industry.
