The Full Story

Minister of Energy and Mining Hon. James Robertson has disclosed that underwater welding equipment to effect repairs on the damaged Petrojam dock arrived in the island last night (Friday June 5) and is currently in use at the Refinery.
The Minister also revealed that the completion of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) line to the former “Esso Kingston Terminal” has been accomplished three weeks ahead of schedule and will be commissioned on Tuesday June 9, 2009. He also divulged that 1,000 feet of pipeline are scheduled to arrive in the island today at the Norman Manley International Airport at approximately 10:00 p.m. The pipelines will then be transported to the Petrojam Refinery on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston, where they will be used for the offloading of finished petroleum products. On Monday June 1, 2009 at approximately 2315 hrs the ship M/T Great News, which was transporting crude oil to the Petrojam Refinery collided into the company’s dock, causing enough damage to temporarily put it out of service.
