The Full Story

The Government is to spend $80 million on Troy Bridge in Trelawny, in the upcoming fiscal year.

Details of the undertaking are contained in the 2024/25 Estimates of Expenditure, tabled in the House of Representatives by Finance Minister, Dr. the Hon. Nigel Clarke, recently.

The project intends to construct a two-lane triple-cell reinforced concrete rigid frame bridge, with sidewalk for pedestrians, and to re-establish connectivity between communities, restore access to necessary services and economic activity, enhancing the overall well-being of the communities.

Works will begin in April 2024 and are slated to end in March, 2026.

For fiscal year 2024/25, it is expected that construction of bridge infrastructure will commence and achieve 46 per cent completion.

Some $89 million has been estimated for fiscal year 2025/26, if necessary.

The project is being implemented by the National Works Agency (NWA).
