The Full Story

An additional 54 outstanding Jamaicans have been installed as Ambassadors for Positive Social Change under the Governor-General’s ‘I Believe’ Initiative.

They were installed during Thursday’s (November 30) induction ceremony and reception hosted by Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen, at King’s House.

In his address, the Governor-General commended the new ambassadors and encouraged them to continue making a positive impact on Jamaica’s development.

“The I Believe induction is not an award. It is an invitation into a community dedicated to leveraging Jamaica’s strengths to address the challenges. Each individual joining this movement is a valued friend and an ally in our collective effort to restore values and ensure peace in Jamaica,” he said.

The Governor-General noted that I Believe Ambassadors are at the forefront, leading initiatives supporting education, youth empowerment, and the strengthening of families in their respective parishes.

“It is with immense pleasure that we formally welcome these individuals. This group includes representatives from our corporate sponsors, tertiary institutions that have generously provided scholarships, and members of our governance board who offer strategic guidance and aid also in resource mobilisation,” he noted.

“I want to commend them for the efforts that have led to high-quality interventions regarding the empowerment of our young people. They support education and build resilient families. [These] are the pillars of the I Believe initiative,” he added.

The Governor-General’s Programme of Excellence is a nonprofit non-governmental entity. It operates under the auspices of the Governor-General and the Governor-General Jamaica Trust.

This comprises the Governor-General Achievement Awards (GGAA) and the I Believe Initiative.

It is a service-oriented programme that emphasises youth upliftment, positive family values, and education.
