$5 Billion Allocated for Redevelopment of CRH

The Government has set aside more than $5 billion for critical improvement works under the continued redevelopment of the St. James-based Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH).
Details of the project are outlined in the 2024/2025 Estimates of Expenditure, which will go before the Standing Finance Committee of the House of Representatives, shortly.
The objectives of the project are improving service delivery in the public health system by rehabilitating the CRH to include ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems; mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems; information and communication & technology (ICT), and equipping the institution.
The money will facilitate the complete design of phase 3; sectional completion of shared services – dietary, administration, medical records, general stores, and server room; commencement of procurement of long lead items, and the beginning of the construction in Phase three.
Achievements under the project up to the end of December 2023 are completion of roof repair; demolition and structural repairs to floors seven to nine completed; demolition and structural repairs to the basement and floors one to six; rehabilitation of water tanks; construction of roof for atria completed, and contract signed for Phase three of the works.
