February 22, 2025The Full Story
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is reporting that there are currently 4171 uncollected payments being held by remittance agencies for Reverse Income Tax Credit (RITC) disbursements. The Authority is urging individuals who have not yet collected their payments to do so before March 7, 2025, in order to avoid the monies being returned to the Consolidated Fund as required by law.
Taxpayers are reminded that they will need to have on hand a valid government issued identification as well as the transaction number that was sent to them via text or email, when the notification of the disbursement being ready for collection was communicated.
To date the government has disbursed $6.9B of the one-time tax giveback payments to 346,085 eligible individuals, who have benefitted since the October 2024 implementation. Though applications are closed, taxpayers can still access the Reverse Income Tax Credit Hub, on the TAJ portal at https://www.jamaicatax.gov.jm/ritc, to facilitate persons using the “Track Status of Application” option, or getting relevant information about RITC to include Frequently Asked Questions. Additionally, applicants may get support by contacting TAJ via (888) TAX-BACK/ (888) 829-2225 or TaxBack@taj.gov.jm.
The application deadline for new applicants expired on December 13, 2024, and reapplication deadline on January 31, 2025 for the RITC. Final payments are scheduled for March 7, 2025
