A $34-million road-patching programme is slated to get under way in sections of Kingston and St. Andrew.
Making the announcement at today’s (April 9) sitting of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC), at 24 Church Street in downtown Kingston, Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Andrew Swaby, said work will be done on at least one road in each of the 40 Divisions of the Corporation.
He warned that contractors who leave construction debris on the roadway after completing the work will be held liable.
“The KSAMC will be firm on taking action against contractors who leave debris on our roadway after completing the work, and this work should be done to the standard of the KSAMC,” the Mayor said.
The KSAMC comprises an even split between the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP), following the February 26 Local Government Elections.
The Corporation is an amalgamation of the two parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew.
This was done in 1923 for the purpose of civic administration.
