The Full Story

The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) has completed works on 33 roads, to date, under the road maintenance project at a cost of $90 million.
Work has been done in 17 divisions.

A sum of $220 million has been allocated to the programme, which will include road repairs across all 40 divisions.

“These improvements reflect our continued commitment to ensuring safer, smoother and more reliable travel for all commuters across Kingston and St. Andrew,” said Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Andrew Swaby.

He was speaking at the recent monthly sitting of the KSAMC at the entity’s downtown Kingston offices.

Meanwhile, the Mayor said that the Corporation will be taking proactive steps to ensure that its services remain effective, despite fiscal constraints.

“We will, therefore, need to strengthen our own source revenue, exercise strict management of our resources and eliminate inefficiencies where possible so that essential municipal services to our residents are not compromised,” he said.

“This is the time for the council to be both prudent and innovative in how we manage our finances,” he added.
