The Possibility Programme, a social intervention project for street boys, which is co-ordinated by the Office of the Prime Minister, will stage its 5th annual Summer Camp graduation exercise at the Jamaica Defence Force camp at New Castle on Friday, August 4, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Since 2002, the Possibility Programme, in conjunction with the Jamaica Defence Force, has staged an annual summer camp for young boys who are participants in the programme.
Twenty-seven young boys attended this year’s summer camp and were instructed in various subjects and vocational areas, including Language Arts and Mathematics, Self-esteem, Dispute Resolution and Counselling.
The Possibility Programme is a national programme aimed at addressing the needs of street children nationwide, particularly boys and young men. The programme was introduced by the government in August 2001 and is geared towards providing street boys with the necessary skills for lifelong learning and social development.
