The Full Story

The Government has allocated $250 million to complete the renovation of Block 11 at 14-16 Port Royal Street in Kingston, for use as the United Nations House offices.

This is contained in the 2025/2026 Estimates of Expenditure, which was tabled recently in the House of Representatives by Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Fayval Williams.

The funds will be used to complete the construction of a perimeter fence, and this is expected to be achieved by March 2026.

The targets achieved up to December 2024, include demolition work, which was completed on the first, third and fourth floors of the building, and the interior works that were done on these floors.

Additionally, electrical work was carried out on the fourth floor and an air-conditioning unit installed. Tenders for the procurement of a contractor to construct the perimeter wall were also evaluated.

The United Nations House project is being funded by the Government and implemented by the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.
