A total of 229 civil servants will be presented with Long Service Medals in recognition of 25 years or more of service to the government and people of Jamaica.
The ceremony will be held at King’s House on November 21 beginning at 2:45 p.m. The awardees represent civil servants, who have given service in all sectors of the society in various areas of expertise.
The Long Service Medal, which was introduced in 1988, is awarded annually to civil servants, who have served at least 25 years in the public service.
Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Professor Sir Kenneth Hall, and the Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, have been invited to participate in the proceedings.
The Long Service Medal ceremony is part of activities to mark Civil Service Week from November 18 to 23.
