$223M Allocated For Rural Water Supply Improvement In 2026/27

The Government has allocated $223 million to support the Rural Water Supply Improvement Project in fiscal year 2026/27.
Details of the undertaking are outlined in the 2026/27 Estimates of Expenditure, tabled recently in the House of Representatives by Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Fayval Williams.
The project, being implemented through Rural Water Supply Limited, aims to deliver potable water services to non-utility service areas across six parishes.
The initial targets include: the installation of potable water supply infrastructure in the Agualta Vale/Jordan Run Scheme in St. Mary; the Albert Town/Ulster Spring Scheme in Trelawny; the Kemps Hill Scheme in Clarendon; the Mason Hall Scheme in St. Mary; the Union/Balaclava Scheme in St. Elizabeth; and the Port Morant/Airy Castle Scheme in St. Thomas.
The anticipated targets for 2026/27 include: preparing detailed engineering designs, conducting institutional strengthening of Rural Water Supply Limited, and preparing institutional strengthening, gender and social communication plans.
The project is being jointly funded by the Government of Jamaica and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). It is scheduled to run from April 2024 to March 2029.
