The Government has allocated some $211 million to carry out repair work at adult correctional centres across the island.
This is outlined in the 2013/14 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.
Of the sum, $35 million will go towards the repair of cells and other maintenance services at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre.
Another $35 million will be used at the St. Catherine Adult Correctional Centre to carry out general repairs to the facility.
The remaining $141 million has been allocated to other correctional centres to facilitate general repairs and improvements.
It includes an amount of $64.5 million to be used to carry out repairs to the South Camp Road facility.
The project will be implemented through the Ministry of National Security.
