The Full Story

Some 180 employees of the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) were recognised by the company for their service to the organisation over the last five years.

Another 66 also received long service awards for over ten years of dedicated service to the tourism entity.

The intent of the awards ceremony is to put the spotlight on staff members who model the company values, surpass their work plan objectives, make significant improvements to a client, staff, or work-related process, surpass internal and external customer expectations, improve efficiency and interpersonal relationships.

Speaking virtually at the event held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, Rose Hall, St. James on Thursday (June 7), Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmond Bartlett expressed gratitude to the workers for their sterling contribution to the sector.

“It is quite impressive to know that so many of you, over the past few years have been consistently performing at an impressive standard,” he said.

He noted that TPDCo exemplifies service excellence in tourism and continues to impact lives at the community level through training and skills enhancement programmes.

Minister Bartlett further described the company as the link that presents Jamaica as “much more than sun, sea and sand” to the world.

“For over the past two decades, this organization, TPDco has impacted many lives. You are involved at the very core, and for every experience, you have been part of progress and upward mobility for many of our local communities and by extension the major players who benefit from the skills of our service providers. We like to say that TPDCo plays a major role in the overall success of the tourism sector,” he stated.

For his part, Chairman of TPDCo, Ian Dear hailed the award recipients for their exemplary work and collective impact on the industry.

He also lauded team members who toiled during the pandemic to ensure that the tourism sector remained resilient.

“I know that to be awarded was not your reason to display excellence, which you have demonstrated over and over again. You have shown up, delivered and you even continue to this day to work at an admirable standard,” Mr. Dear said.

The TPDCo team also received a motivational talk from keynote speaker, Attorney at Law, Rochelle Cameron who encouraged awardees to continue to display excellence in their pursuits and raise the bar of success higher.
