The Government has set aside $1 billion to complete activities under the Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP) II during the 2024/25 fiscal year.

The project, being implemented by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF), seeks to enhance access to basic urban infrastructure and services, and contribute towards increased community safety in selected economically vulnerable and socially volatile communities in Jamaica.

As provided in the 2024/25 Estimates of Expenditure, the funds will be used to commence and complete infrastructure projects in Norwood, Salt Spring and Anchovy, St. James and August Town in St. Andrew.

Achievements under the project up to December 2023 include the provision of support for 14 summer camps; rehabilitation of primary schools in Treadlight, Clarendon; Lethe, Hanover; and Salt Spring, St. James and completion of the the Denham Town Police Station.

In addition, 133 environmental wardens from five communities were trained and infrastructure projects in August Town and Treadlight were completed.

Other achievements include the completion of parks and green spaces in seven communities; completion of the Greenwich Town zinc fence removal and sidewalk rehabilitation programme in St. Andrew; and provision of safe passages at Roehampton and Bickersteth primary schools in St. James, and Greenwich Town Primary, St. Andrew.

Rehabilitation works also commenced at the Hope Valley Experimental and August Town Primary schools in St. Andrew.

The project, which falls under the Office of the Prime Minister, is slated to end in March 2026.
