The Full Story

The Government will be spending more than $1.1 billion to complete several aspects of the St. James-based Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH), under its redevelopment project.

The objective of the project is to improve service delivery in the public health system by rehabilitating the CRH to include ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems; mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP); information and communications technology (ICT), and equipping the institution.

Details of the project are outlined in the 2022/2023 Estimates of Expenditure, which are before the Standing Finance Committee of the House of Representatives.

For the upcoming fiscal year, work is expected to be done on the continued implementation of Phase III of the project to attain 60 per cent completion of the HVAC system and completion of building works, to include painting, MEP/ICT, and continuation of procurement of furniture and medical equipment.

Up to the end of December 2021, there was a 100 per cent completion of Phase I, 100 per cent completion of Phase II A, and 30 per cent completion of the installation of HVAC systems under Phase III.
