The Data Protection Act, 2020, mandates that organizations which are large-scale data processors and processors of sensitive personal data must appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO). According to Information Commissioner Celia Barclay DPOs play an essential role in assisting Data Controllers to safeguard data privacy and ensure compliance with the legislation.
