Every year thousands of Jamaicans travel to Canada to participate in the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme, what we know locally as the farm work programme. Administered by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, this programme has transformed the lives of the men and women who go, allowing them to have stable incomes and take care of their families here on the island.
