Contractor Registration for GOJ Projects
April 8, 2022The Full Story
One of the players in the construction industry is the contractor. Private contractors who want to bid on Government of Jamaica (GOJ) projects valued at $2 million and above must be registered.
Online Registration
The first step is to register on the Government of Jamaica Electronic Procurement (GOJEP) system. The GOJEP is a Tender Management System, through which all government contracts are managed by the GOJ’s public procurement professionals. This online platform allows the bidding process to be easily accessible to local and international bidders.
The next step in the process is applying for a registration certificate from the Public Procurement Commission (PPC) formerly known as the National Contracts Commission (NCC). Once fully registered, the applicant will receive a registration certificate.
Once the contractor has successfully registered on GOJEP, the system will send a confirmation email with a transaction code to activate the account.
- Requirements for Registration
- Â Applicants must have a valid Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC).
- A completed declaration form giving relevant information about the company. This form must be signed in the presence of a Justice of the Peace.
- The applicant must not have been convicted of any breaches of the Public Procurement Act or its Regulations.
- The company must still be in operation up to the time of registering.
The Bidding Process
In order to ensure transparency, contracts are awarded based on sealed bids received from various companies locally and internationally. The tendering process is therefore a confidential one among all parties.
