The Government has set aside more than $100 million to upgrade facilities at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium, and the National Arena, in St. Andrew.
For the Trelawny stadium, irrigation infrastructure will be constructed at a cost of $57 million, while a $60 million enhancement project will be undertaken at the National Arena, to host national, regional and international events.
Anticipated targets for the Trelawny facility are to: commence and complete the construction of water catchment tanks; commence and complete trenching and pipe laying; and begin and finish construction of a pump house, install the pump and ensure the functionality of the system.
Targets at the National Arena for 2016/17 are to: commence and complete the renovation and upgrading of the bathroom facility; and paint and renovate the roof and ceiling, windows and doors.
