Coroner’s and Special Coroner’s Court to be Handed Over to Judiciary

The Ministry of Justice has acquired and renovated 119A Maxfield Avenue to house the Coroner’s and Special Coroner’s Court.
The facility will be formally handed over to the Judiciary on Wednesday June 7, 2017.
The relocation of the Courts to the new location is part of the Ministry’s thrust to modernize the physical infrastructure of Justice institutions and is a key priority under the Justice Reform Implementation Plan.
“We are doing all that we can to change the face of the Justice System including the Courts”, said Permanent Secretary Mrs. Carol Palmer.
The completion and handing over of these Courts to the Judiciary signals the continued commitment of the Ministry to improve the built environment of our institutions,
Three hundred and forty -nine million dollars (349.150M) is earmarked this year for repair and maintenance of Courthouses, and a further Two hundred and sixty-seven million dollars (267M) for the construction and implementation of the Justice Sector Reform Programme that addresses infrastructure development.
The opening will be held at119A Maxfield Avenue Kingston 10.
