The Ministry of Labour and Social Security will open a condolence book for the late former President of the Senate, Mrs. Syringa Marshall-Burnett, CD, at its North Street office in Kingston, on Wednesday, October 29.

Minister of  Labour and Social Security, Agriculture and  Fisheries,  Hon. Derrick Kellier, is expected to sign, along with Permanent Secretary, Mr. Alvin McIntosh; Executive Director of the National Council for Senior Citizens (NCSC), Mrs. Angela Toyloy and other Ministry officials.

In the afternoon, the book will be opened to the public at the NCSC’s Secretariat at 11 West King’s House Road, Kingston 10, where it will remain until November 5. Signing can be done between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

At the time of Mrs. Marshall-Burnett’s passing earlier this month, she was Chairperson of the NCSC. She also served as President of the Senate from 1995 to 2007 and as a former President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ).

A Thanksgiving Service will be held in her honour on Thursday, November 6, at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Chapel, at Mona.
