Through technology and digital literacy training, the “iamtheCODE” Youth Empowerment Initiative is addressing the current global skills shortage in marginalized communities worldwide in the fields of not STEM but STEAMD (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, entrepreneurship, and design) with the goal of producing a generation of one million women and girls who are coders by 2030. Jamaica recently launched the local adaptation of the programme, which is being spearheaded by iamtheCODE Caribbean (IATCC) co-founders, Nadeen Matthews Blair and Mariame McIntosh Robinson.
