The Full Story

Jamaica has taken note of the new tariff regime announced by President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, on Wednesday (April 2), says Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith.

The Minister, in a statement, said that the Government is sourcing the requisite technical documentation to ensure accuracy of details and appropriate analysis.

She said that the Government is mindful of the need for clarity and “will update the business community and wider public accordingly”.

President Trump has announced sweeping tariffs on all imports into the US.

Exports from Jamaica, as well as from most countries in the region, will be subject to a 10 per cent tariff.
