The Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ) has announced that its upcoming ‘Outsource to Jamaica’ (O2J) conference will be a “buyer’s marketplace”.

Vice President, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Logistics, Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ), Gloria Henry, made the disclosure during the recent media launch at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.

The highly anticipated conference, to be held under the theme: ‘Driving Excellence’, is poised to be a game-changer for the BPO sector, positioning Jamaica as a leading destination for global buyers.

This year’s event, slated for the Montego Bay Convention Centre on April 11, will provide unprecedented opportunities for local businesses to connect with international buyers, analysts and thought leaders.

“We have engaged with Ryan’s Strategic Advisory Firm who is coming to Jamaica with a group of buyers and brokers, analysts and various thought-provoking speakers who will be engaging with our industry members, young people within the BPO space who are looking to grow their business,” Ms. Henry informed.

The conference will also provide a platform for Jamaican businesses to showcase their capabilities and pitch their services to potential clients.

“They will now have the opportunity to connect with these buyers and these analysts and pitch their own call centre or whatever products or services that they are offering,” Ms. Henry indicated.

Beyond BPO, the conference will highlight Jamaica’s readiness for third-party logistics.

“We are ready to improve supply chain efficiency for our local businesses and to make them more competitive so that they can focus on their core business. Outsourcing logistics to third party providers enables businesses to focus on their core competencies while benefiting from professional supply chain management,” Ms. Henry said.

She also underscored Jamaica’s strategic advantages, noting, “we have the number one port community system in the western hemisphere, we have over 100 major shipping lines coming to Jamaica [and] we have 400 flights coming into Jamaica per week; so we are more than ready for third party logistics.”

The conference has garnered significant support from key organisations, including the Jamaica Special Economic Zone Authority (JSEZA), Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), and PAJ.

Sponsors such as BCMG Insurance Brokers, Life Call, VR Gifts and Souvenirs, Barnett Limited, Digicel and the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) have also pledged their support.

Avalon Logistics Company will be the logistics partner for this year’s conference.

Representatives from agencies under the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, such as the Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ), Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) and Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO), along with the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA), among others, will also be present to support investors.

“We work together in a very collaborative way to support investors coming here, Let’s work together and come to O2J because you will learn a lot more,” Ms. Henry urged.

The Outsource to Jamaica conference is the premier event for the island’s BPO and logistics industries.

It brings together local businesses, international buyers and industry experts to foster collaboration and drive growth in the sectors.
