The Full Story

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) will host its annual Primary Exit Profile (PEP) awards ceremony on August 15.

This is to recognise and celebrate the academic achievements of children in State care who sat the PEP exam and are preparing to transition to high school in September 2024.

Scheduled to be held at the Jamaica Conference Centre, downtown Kingston, the event underscores the CPFSA’s commitment to education and aims to provide positive reinforcement and encouragement to the young scholars.

“The CPFSA is immensely proud of our young students, and we are honoured to be able to highlight them and their hard work through our PEP awards ceremony,” Public Relations and Communications Manager at the CPFSA, Kristen Laing, told JIS News.

“This event not only celebrates the academic achievements of our children in State care but also reaffirms our commitment to their future success,” she added.

One hundred and forty-five students who completed the PEP exam this year will be recognised, with 39 receiving special recognition for scoring 300 points and above.

Special mention will also be made of the top boy and girl in the CPFSA’s four regions, and also the overall top-performing boy and girl across the island.

“As we honour these bright young minds, we are reminded of the transformative power of education and the importance of support systems in helping them reach their full potential. This ceremony is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our children, caregivers, and educators to their academic success, and it also symbolises the CPFSA’s ongoing efforts to foster hope, confidence, and a bright future for all our youth,” Ms. Laing noted.

She emphasised that the CPFSA is committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of children in State care, through various programmes and initiatives that support their growth and potential by preparing them for a bright future.

The ceremony, which is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m., will be attended by key stakeholders, led by the Minister of Education and Youth, Hon. Fayval Williams.
