Finance and Public Service Minister, Dr. the Hon. Nigel Clarke, is championing the success of MyHR+ in the public sector.
MyHR+ is an integrated human resource and payroll system that is being implemented in the Government service.
It is a major component of the Public Sector Transformation Programme.
“We have a pillar that’s dedicated to the transformation of the human resource practices in the government and one of the central initiatives in that regard has been the implementation of an enterprise software system, MyHR+. So far, we have been successful in implementing MyHR + in over 70 Government offices, ministries, departments and agencies,” Dr. Clarke said.
He was speaking at the recent Caribbean Public Sector Financial Management Conference in Kingston.
Dr. Clarke said with the implementation of MyHR+ many of the practices that existed in the public service for human resource related matters are being effectively addressed and in a timelier manner.
He noted, for example, that employees have an easier and simpler process in getting critical documents that can be used for transacting personal business.
“MyHR+ will allow public service managers to be able to allocate the human resources under their charge more efficiently because they’ll have data upfront, at their fingertips,” he added.
Dr. Clarke indicated that public servants have spoken about the benefits of the programme as there has been high usage of the self-service component of the platform.
“The self-service component that is, how the public sector employees engage with MyHR + to get data and information for their own use…we have had 84,000 self-service deliveries request since implementation of MyHR +,” Dr. Clarke said.
“That’s 84,000 times when people have gotten job letters or requested leave entitlements or sorted out health benefits…etcetera making the public sector employee more autonomous and delivering a level of efficiency in the public service,” Minister Clarke pointed out.
The public sector transformation programme is being executed by the Government of Jamaica, through the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, with support, funding and expertise from international development partners – the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank.
The programme has two main components – enhancing the quality of public services; and enhancing efficiency in public spending.
