The Heart Foundation of Jamaica (HFJ) and Future Energy Source Company (FESCO) Limited have partnered in support of the HFJ’s ‘Know Your Numbers’ campaign.

The campaign promotes good health practices among Jamaicans by encouraging regular health checks for early detection of heart-related health risks.

HFJ Executive Director, Deborah Chen, told JIS News that she is heartened by FESCO’s recognition of the importance of heart health by investing in the health of Jamaicans.

She pointed out that FESCO is supporting the campaign’s focus on promoting good health, through the donation of $2 million towards purchasing two electrocardiogram (ECG) machines and the sponsorship of fuel for the Foundation’s car fleet over a two-year period.

The Executive Director added that the partnership will further support the HFJ’s mission of ‘Promoting Heart Health in Jamaica’, as the ECG machines will serve as a part of the screening process for some of the most vulnerable Jamaicans.

This includes screenings to identify potential heart conditions in persons displaying no symptoms of heart disease and detecting abnormal heart rhythms.

Mrs. Chen said the partnership exemplifies a shared commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

“It is a pleasure to be partnering with our neighbours at FESCO. Merging health and service is a trend we want to bring forward to emphasise the mission of the Heart Foundation of Jamaica,” she said.

For his part, Head, Business Development, Sales, Marketing and Communication at FESCO, Stefan Ebanks, said the entity is thrilled to support the HFJ’s campaign, which, he noted, aligns with the energy company’s motto – ‘Proudly Jamaican’.

Mr. Ebanks also highlighted the benefits of the campaign’s focus, which, he said, will be available to FESCO’s team members.

“This partnership with the Heart Foundation underscores FESCO’s dedication to community-centric initiatives. The campaign will reach communities islandwide and, specifically, benefit FESCO’s staff by providing them with regular health checks as part of their staff benefits”, he pointed out.
