Director of Children and Family Programmes at the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA), Warren Thompson (right), displays the cover of a story book to grade-two students at the Bamboo Primary and Junior High School in St. Ann during Read Across Jamaica Day on Tuesday (May 3). Mr. Thompson visited the institution as part of a school tour to promote the importance of child protection and the Agency’s 211 Child Abuse Reporting Hotline.

Students attending the Jamaica China Goodwill Infant School are now benefitting from improved access to learning resources and materials thanks to a collaborative initiative which saw the construction of a well needed library at the school.

It’s some 7 days since the agonizing winds and treacherous rains of the category 5 hurricane Melissa desiccated sections of Jamaica, leaving behind a trail of downed powerlines and broken-down buildings and structures.  Among those affected is the St. Elizabeth Technical High School, STETHS.

Jamaica’s Promise – Edwin Allen High Celebrates Gains in CSEC Results
Edwin Allen High School, a 10-time ISSA Girls Champs champion, known for their dominance on the track, is celebrating significant improvements and a turnaround in student performance in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Mathematics examinations. Students demonstrated notable progress with a pass rate of 74.1% up from 25.4% in 2024.
