Homeless Fed and Entertained In Mo-Bay

Homeless persons were fed and entertained on Tuesday at the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Dinner, held at the St. James Parish Council Care Centre, in Montego Bay, St. James.

They were provided with cooked meals and drinks, with the Junior Councillors and Council staff serving them.

Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Glendon Harris, told the gathering that feting the homeless was done in keeping with the true meaning of Christmas, that of extending kindness to others.

“This gesture today is a part of doing God’s work here on earth, and as we give onto you a special meal, I hope that you will accept it in that spirit. Whatever you are, however you are, wherever you are, you are a child of God, and we want to accept each and every one of you as a child of God -my brother, my sister, and my friend,” the Mayor said.

“We would not want to leave any of you out of the loop. We want to ensure that you live life as best as possible, because it was God’s will that all men should share earth equally. This little gesture must be seen as part of sharing and caring for God’s people and this gift of a meal today will be a blessing to all,” he added.

Acting Deputy Inspector of Poor at the Parish Council, Jay-Ann Irving, urged persons to look out for individuals in their communities that are in need, and help to make their lives a little better.

“Let us take time to give back to those who might be less fortunate, and those who cannot afford anything at all. The little that we have, let us endeavour to share it with others and give back even a small portion. Your blessings will be more when you get back,” Miss Irving said.
