Getting Married in Jamaica Pt 2: Accessing A Marriage Certificate

Following the wedding, the marriage register must be submitted to the Registrar General’s Department in order for the marriage certificate to be processed, produced and printed. Five signatures must be affixed to the marriage register to make the marriage valid, those of the married couple, the 2 witnesses and the marriage officer. The initial documents that would have been needed to carry out a wedding in Jamaica include: a form of declaration and the Minister’s License both obtained from the Ministry of Justice.
