Wastewater Treatment Plant in Harbour View to be Rehabilitated

Cabinet has approved the award of a $560.6 million contract to Tankweld Limited, to rehabilitate the wastewater treatment plant in Harbour View, St. Andrew.
Making the announcement at a Jamaica House press briefing on Wednesday, June 26, at the Office of the Prime Minister, Information Minister, Senator the Hon. Sandrea Falconer, said the works will include conversion of the exiting concrete tank to a trickling filter unit; and construction of a new pumping station, reed beds, and a deep infiltration disposal unit.

Cabinet also approved the award of a $69.65 million contract to Marshall Construction Limited to build a new two-storey reinforced building at the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) parish office at the Hague Agricultural show ground, in Trelawny.
The building, which is to be built in nine months, will comprise 565 square metres of floor areas, inclusive of walkways, steps and ramps.
“RADA needs to replace the previous building from which it operated, due to its derelict state,” she explained. The agency currently occupies a temporary location in Duncans in the parish.
Additionally, Cabinet has approved the award of a contract for $40.605 million to Alfrasure Structures and Roofing Limited, to build a Centre of Excellence at the Claremont Health Centre in St. Ann
The centre is one of four to be located in the four Regional Health Authorities, providing improved services, such as mental health, pharmacy, curative, family health, dental and diagnostic services.
The works will include a new waiting area, a new parking area, upgraded sanitary facilities, a new road, and electrical improvement to the facility.
