Venezuelan President pays one-day visit to Jamaica

Yesterday, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, His Excellency Hugo Chavez, paid a one-day working visit to Jamaica, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, headed the welcome party to greet the Venezuelan President at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, when his plane touched down shortly after 1 p.m. Both leaders along with a team of Ministers then held talks at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
The discussions covered several areas of social and economic cooperation as well as regional and international issues. President Chavez later met with former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson.
