Town Hall Meeting Series Continues…Next Stop Junction, St. Elizabeth, August 12

Prime Minister Bruce Golding’s series of town hall meetings will continue next week Wednesday, August 12 at the B.B Coke High school in Junction, St Elizabeth. The meeting gets underway at 7:00 p.m. and will be the fifth in the series which began in May.
The Prime Minister will be supported by a Ministerial and technical team which will include Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton, the Minister of Water and Housing, Dr Horace Chang and the Minister of State in the Ministry of Energy and Mining, Mr. Laurie Broderick. The Prime Minister has been using the town hall meetings as a way for government to interact directly with citizens to update them on the economic crisis facing the country, and to explain the issues presented in the recent budget.
Representatives from a number of local agencies have been invited to respond to concerns which may be raised by citizens. These agencies include the National Water Commission, the National Works Agency, Rural Agricultural Development Agency, the National Irrigation Commission, the Jamaica Public Service, National Solid Waste Management Authority and the Jamaica Bauxite Institute
The Prime Minister’s town hall meetings have been widely supported by citizens in each town with hundreds of Jamaicans from all walks of life in attendance. Jamaicans have also been able to put forward a number of proposals on how they believe government can address and meet some of the challenges head on. To date, meetings have been held in Mandeville, Portmore, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.
