He further informed that the objective of the Ministry of Education is to have by 2016, one Special Education Teacher available, whether full or part time as the need arises, for every school in the country.  He noted however, that such a situation would not minimize the need for institutions like the Edgehill School of Special Education.

The Edgehill School of Special Education is a joint venture between the Ministry of Education and the Jamaica Association on Intellectual Disabilities (JAID).  The school’s curriculum includes the teaching of functional skills, literacy, numeracy and prevocational skills to intellectual challenged individuals.
