The Full Story

The Scientific Research Council (SRC) is reiterating its commitment to boosting innovation as part of the national development thrust.

“Through research, product development and collaboration, we continue to demonstrate how innovation can drive economic diversification,” Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager, Carolyn Rose Miller, told JIS News.

“We are also empowering communities to harness the potential of local resources to create value and sustainable growth. In doing so, the SRC not only reduces dependency on imports but we also promote economic growth by creating new opportunities for local industries,” she said.

Mrs. Rose Miller is encouraging entrepreneurs to make greater use of the SRC’s facilities and services to introduce new products, noting that more local innovations will help to steer the country towards global competitiveness.

Among the services offered are food and personal care training workshops and tissue culture application, which is used to grow large quantities of plants rapidly.

The SRC is an agency of the Ministry of Science, Energy, Telecommunications and Transport mandated to foster the development of scientific research, serve as a repository of scientific information, and facilitate the development, application, transfer and or improvement of technology of such research for the country’s benefit.

It also serves as an enabler in the creation of new industries and supports technical processes with stakeholders.
