Rotary Club Donates Medical Equipment to Mandeville Hospital

The Mandeville Regional Hospital in Manchester is the beneficiary of more than $534,000 (US$6,000) in medical equipment from the Rotary Club of Mandeville.
Club President, Dr. Olajide Adekeye, handed over the equipment to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hospital, Paulette Elliot, Tuesday (July 28) at the club’s weekly meeting held at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville.
They included nebulisers, oxygen regulators and concentrators, and blood sugar monitors, which will be used in the maternity and emergency wards.
The CEO expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the pieces of equipment were “lifesaving”.
“During the winter (months) we can have up to 15 patients waiting to be nebulised and we have never had enough to treat each patient without them not having to wait. This tells the importance of having these pieces of equipment,” Miss Elliott said.
Dr. Adekeye pledged that the organisation would continue to provide the hospital with important medical apparatus.
“The Rotary Club is concentrating on the Mandeville Regional Hospital, and the health centres in the parish to boost health care delivery. The equipment will be very useful for accident victims and asthmatic patients,” he noted.
Over the past months, the hospital, which is the premier medical facility in Central Jamaica, has received several state-of-the-art pieces of medical equipment from the Rotary Club of Mandeville.
