Director of Children and Family Programmes at the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA), Warren Thompson (right), displays the cover of a story book to grade-two students at the Bamboo Primary and Junior High School in St. Ann during Read Across Jamaica Day on Tuesday (May 3). We often say in Jamaica that “Encouragement sweetens labour” and the St. Catherine based Jonathan Grant High School is using its Student of The Month Award to encourage students to strive for academic excellence and become positive role models among their peers.  Miss Shevan Wilson, a teacher at Jonathan Grant High, says the initiative’s main goal is to show students that there is plenty out there for them to experience if they strive to achieve.

Jamaica’s Promise – Waterford Primary PEP Top Achiever
Waterford Primary, located in the center of the Waterford community in Portmore St. Catherine, achieved outstanding results on this year's Primary Exit Profile (PEP) Examinations, with 60 of its 73 students, approximately 82%, achieving high proficiency in the exams.
