The Government has recorded significant progress under the Programme for the Reduction of Maternal and Child Mortality (PROMAC), since its launch in 2013. PROMAC, which is funded by the European Union (EU) aims to reduce the level of pregnancy-related mortality and morbidity in Jamaica. Under the programme, the Government is to establish nine High Dependency Units (HDUs) for the intensive care of babies and mothers in five hospitals.
