Farmers liable for not issuing receipts

Under the law, farmers selling produce commercially are required to register with the Rural Agricultural Development Authority, RADA and obtain a receipt book from the Jamaica Agricultural Society, JAS.

The Agricultural Produce Act stipulates that it is an offence for farmers to sell produce without issuing the approved receipt.

Head of the Praedial Larceny Prevention Coordination Unit in the Ministry of Agriculture, Superintendent Oral Pascoe says there are heavy fines for breaching this regulation.
