PM off to Summit of Caribbean Heads in Haiti

Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller will on Friday, April 26, attend the 5th Summit of Heads of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) in Haiti.

Among the issues before the Summit are trade, transport, sustainable tourism and natural disasters.

The establishment of the ACS is aimed at deepening and strengthening regional relations within the Caribbean and in particular the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). Friday’s Summit follows on the 18th Ordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), which was held in Panama City, in February.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretaries in Office of the Prime Minister, Ms Onika Miller and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Ambassador Paul Robotham, along with personal support and security team. The delegation returns to the island this evening.

While the Prime Minister is off the island, the Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Hon Peter Phillips will be in charge of the Government.
