KPH Still Under Health Ministry Control

The Minister of Health, Hon. Rudyard Spencer has indicated his outrage by a report carried in the media, suggesting that gunmen have taken over control of the Kingston Public Hospital and are forcing surgeons to treat “gangsters”. The Minister would like to assure the public that the Kingston Public Hospital remains under the control of the Ministry of Health through the South East Regional Health Authority.
“The staff continues to provide excellent service of which we are proud in this difficult environment,” Minister Spencer said.
The Hospital continues to accept emergency cases and is managing the increased patient load being experienced currently. Security has been increased on the compound however there continues to be concern about the safety of staff traveling to and from the area due to the continuing violence.
The Ministry is working with the relevant authorities to as best as possible address the security and welfare of staff.
