Applications open today (January 7) for temporary positions in the hospitality industry in the United States of America (USA).

Minister of Agriculture, Labour and Social Security, Hon. Derrick Kellier, who made the announcement on Tuesday (January 6), said vacancies are available for bell men with driver’s licence, landscapers, and chefs.

There are also positions for housekeepers; front desk personnel with sales experience; as well as greens keepers and caddies for golf courses.

The Minister was speaking at a send-off ceremony for the first batch of farm workers for 2015 under the Ministry’s Overseas Employment Programme, held at the Overseas Employment Services Centre in Kingston.

Interested persons are being asked to visit the parish offices of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security with detailed resumes, along with passports and recommendations from hotels which they have worked.

Prospective candidates must be between 18 to 40 years, with a minimum of two years working experience in the hotel industry, and a certificate of training. In addition, applicants should have no criminal record, and possess a valid passport.

Minister Kellier said candidates should not have been denied a visa by the US Embassy within the last 12 months or deported from the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom (UK) or any other country.

Applications close on Friday, January 9. Only short listed candidates will be called for interviews.
