The Full Story

Local charity, the Issa Trust Foundation, continues to make a difference in the lives of less fortunate Jamaicans, with approximately US$1 million (J$150 million) raised last year to support various initiatives in education and healthcare.

“The Foundation’s commitment to making a tangible difference… has been exemplified by its tireless efforts to raise funds for critical causes. In New York, the Foundation orchestrated two remarkable concerts that showcased some of the finest talents in the reggae music scene,” Chairman of the Foundation, Paul Issa, told JIS News.

He said that the concerts, which featured performers like Third World and Luciano, brought together music lovers and philanthropists alike, raising an impressive sum of US$600,000.

In addition, US$400,000 was raised from a sold-out show at the Sans Souci Resort in St. Mary, featuring well-known American singer Michael Bolton.

Mr. Issa said the resounding success of the fundraisers serves as a testament to the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to its mission and the generosity of its supporters such as Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen, and Her Excellency Lady Allen.

He hailed Lady Allen, who is Patron of the Foundation, as a “hard worker whose dedication has been instrumental” in the organisation’s achievements.

“Of note is Lady Allen’s never-ending dedication to the Foundation’s cause, as she has been deeply involved in ensuring the success of every fundraising endeavour. Her meticulous attention to detail and passion for education and healthcare have been instrumental in driving the Foundation’s initiatives forward,” Mr. Issa said.

“Her vision for the Mary Issa Pediatric and Adolescent Health Centre in Runaway Bay, St. Ann, reflects a commitment to providing essential care for young children in need,” he added.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Issa Trust Foundation, Diane Pollard, praises the entire team of patrons who have worked tirelessly to make the Foundation’s endeavours a success.

Ms. Pollard highlighted the remarkable contribution of House Speaker and St. Andrew East Rural Member of Parliament, the Most Hon. Juliet Holness, noting that “her passion and dedication to the Foundation’s cause” embody the spirit of unity and compassion that defines the organisation.

She said the work of the Issa Trust Foundation stands as a “testament to the power of community, collaboration and compassion” in creating positive change in the world.

The Issa Trust Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded by Couples Resorts in 2005.

Its mission is to provide a system of prevention, health promotion and education, community health improvement and other services to promote well-being and development for the people of Jamaica.
